Meet Mary
Mary is a Senior Physiotherapist with over 15 years of experience helping people recover from injury, overcome persistent pain and return to the activities they enjoy. She graduated from the University of Cumbria with a First Class Honours degree in Physiotherapy in 2008, building on her earlier career as an Exercise Therapist with the Fire Fighters Charity, where she went on to become a Senior Musculoskeletal and Rehabilitation Physiotherapist.
Committed to evidence-based practice throughout her career, Mary completed a Master’s degree in Rehabilitation Studies at Lancaster University, graduating with distinction. Her research focused on measuring rehabilitation outcomes in people with persistent back pain, reflecting her long-standing interest in helping patients with complex and longstanding musculoskeletal conditions.
Mary enjoys treating a wide range of musculoskeletal and sports injuries, including back and neck pain, shoulder problems, lower limb injuries, tendon disorders and rehabilitation following injury or surgery. She has particular expertise in strength-based rehabilitation and helping patients return to exercise, sport and physically demanding occupations safely and confidently.
Her treatment combines detailed assessment, personalised rehabilitation, hands-on therapy and education, with a strong emphasis on shared decision-making. Mary believes the best outcomes are achieved when patients understand their condition and work collaboratively to build strength, confidence and long-term resilience.
Alongside her physiotherapy qualifications, Mary is also a qualified Pilates Instructor and Powerlifting Coach, giving her a unique understanding of strength training, movement quality and performance. Whether your goal is to return to everyday activities, recover from injury or improve sporting performance, she enjoys helping patients become stronger than they were before their injury.
If you have a persistent musculoskeletal problem, are recovering from surgery, want to return to strength training or sport, or are looking for an experienced physiotherapist to guide your rehabilitation, Mary would be an excellent choice.
Outside of work, Mary is a former competitive powerlifter who still has a passion for strength training. She also enjoys running, mountain biking, music and photography.
